About
Purpose
The purpose and goal of this blog is to help develop effective technology leaders, although many of the principles apply to all leaders. To meet this goal, I share my experiences as a technology leader, student, and enthusiast. I share my thoughts and experiences on subjects relevant to the technology industry such as leadership, technical training, certifications, and information assurance. My hope and desire is to start a conversation with others who are leading people in this challenging field so we can learn from each other.
I usually have two posts a week.
Areas of Focus

Resources Page
I have links to several sites that can help you develop your skills in each of these areas.
- The Tools & Resources section has tools that will help you either learn these skills or assist you in your professional career.
- The Training section has links to sites (many of them free) that provide training to develop the skills mentioned above.
- The What I’m Reading section includes a fairly long list of blogs and / or online magazines that relate to leadership, technical or social skills.
I hope that you find these sites as useful as I do.
Bio
I seem to have been born with a never-ending curiosity about how things work. My professional background is in computer networking, systems integration, and network management. I’ve been in management for the past 5 years, so I have to spend time at home working on my technical skills.
Experience
I recently transitioned from a telecommunications company, where my department was responsible for delivering interactive services to hotel guests in many of the world’s largest hotels. Interactive services we provided included video on demand (VOD), high-speed data, VoIP and IPTV.
It was a lot of fun, but I decided to move on to a position in the public sector where I am an IT manager for a government contractor. The new job allows me an opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge I’ve acquired as part of my MSIA degree studies.
Finally, I am just beginning my teaching career part-time at ITT Tech. This is something that I hope to do when I “retire” so I am excited about the opportunity.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Networking from Regis University
- Currently pursuing my Masters degree in Information Assurance at Norwich University (2/2010).
- CISSP and CCNA certifications
